US President Donald Trump And His Wife Melania Test Positive for COVID-19

US President Donald Trump confirmed early Friday that both he and his wife tested positive for COVID-19, which adds another chapter to his administration’s much-criticized handling of the coronavirus pandemic. It was reported that Trump and his wife may have contracted the virus when they traveled with senior advisor Hope Hicks aboard Air Force One. Hicks has reportedly already tested positive for coronavirus when she flew with the US president and first lady on the presidential plane.

On Twitter, President Trump announced that he contracted the virus and a quarantine process that begins immediately: “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” Sean P. Conley, who is the president’s physician, later qualified in a written statement that the president and the first lady are doing well at the moment, and they plan to stay at home inside the White House during their convalescence.

This happened just a month before the US elections in which Trump seeks re-election. There are questions about how this may affect his candidacy considering there are campaign rallies he still needs to attend. This also shows that the coronavirus spares no one, whether you are an ordinary person or the leader of a superpower country. But we can only wish the president the best and a speedy recovery with his wife, despite his poor handling of the coronavirus pandemic on US soil.
